Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar

Love Koh Tao is an iconic place to visit during any stay on Koh Tao. Located high up on the hillside next to the empty reservoir, it holds an elevated position looking down into Tanote Bay on the east coast of the island. This makes it an incredible place to watch the sunrise. On a clear day, you can also look to the southeast and see Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. The ‘I love Koh Tao’ signs and heart-shaped loveseat make popular backdrops to many an Instagram photo. The garden is full of quirky statues and furniture items including strawberries, sheep, and mushrooms. 

Access

Love Koh Tao can be easily accessed from the Tanote Bay road and is well signposted. The hill is quite steep but in good condition, so your rental scooter should have no problem getting you there. If you are hiking, then you can also start from the west coast of the island in Sairee and cut through from Two View Viewpoint Bar and West Coast Viewpoint.

Fees

There is a 20THB fee for accessing the property to take photos. However, if you purchase anything from the restaurant or bar then the entrance fee is waived. 

Services & Facilities

As with many other viewpoints, the bar and restaurant is a small, family-run business. They serve a range of soft drinks, shakes, and alcoholic beverages. A selection of tasty Thai dishes and Western snacks are on the menu. Wi-Fi is also available. 

It is fair to say Love Koh Tao has put in some effort to make it the kind of place where you’d want to hang out for a while and enjoy the scenery. Colourful signs, eccentric statues, and heart-shaped features aside, there is also a netted seating area and various hanging seats. Even if you don’t make it out of bed in time for sunrise, it’s still a beautiful spot to hang out for a few hours, relax, and take in the stunning panoramic scenery.

Sunrise. Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar’s eastern-facing location makes it the perfect place to watch the sun come up over Koh Tao.
