Golden View Viewpoint

Golden View Viewpoint is a little-known and seldom-visited collection of granite boulders about a twenty minute hike from Tanote Peak Viewpoint. It is visible from Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar, although until you hike up to the peak of the hill above, at first glance it doesn’t look particularly accessible. 

Once there, you’ll have a great 360-degree panorama looking back up towards the peak, down into Tanote Bay and Laem Thien Bay, and across to Hin Gnam and Shark Island. Koh Phangan and Koh Samui may well be visible in the distance on a clear day too. 

Access

To get to Golden View Viewpoint, you’ll first need to access Tanote Peak Viewpoint. From there climb down the rocks which will connect you to a small, seldom walked track down through the jungle and up a small incline to the Golden View boulders on the other side. Be aware this path isn’t used often and becomes overgrown easily. So, you may need to bash your way through some of the undergrowth to make a clear passage. Alternatively, you can ride your scooter there. Put “Top of The Rock Pool Villa, Koh Tao” into your Google Maps. Upon arrival at the villa, the viewpoint is less than five minutes walk away.  

To access Tanote Peak you can come from North Sairee, South Sairee, or Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar. Whichever direction you come from you need to continue up the hill to the peak once you reach West Coast Viewpoint. From there it only takes 5-10 minutes to reach Tanote Peak Viewpoint. Then another 5 minutes or so to reach Golden View Viewpoint. 

Fees

There are no fees to access West Coast Viewpoint if you hike from north Sairee. However, you may be charged an access fee by the landowners at Two View Viewpoint Bar. This is if you come from either south Sairee or over from Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar. 

Services & Facilities

Unless you take a route that passes by Two View Viewpoint Bar or Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar, you’ll need to take plenty of water and any snacks you want with you, as there are no other shops or services along the way.

Sunrise or Sunset? 

Sunrise! Golden View Viewpoint has an eastern-facing position. This makes it a great location to watch the sun appear and make its journey across the morning sky.
