Whitening is one of the longest-running restaurants on the island and is a favourite with both residents and tourists. If you’ve visited Koh Tao before and eaten at Whitening, you may remember the old beachside location in Mae Haad Bay. The new Whitening location is still beachside. You can sit at a table with the sand beneath your toes and enjoy a refreshing cocktail. And enjoy a meal with the relaxing sound of the waves lapping the shoreline in the background.

As the name would suggest, white is the main colour scheme, and the overall look of Whitening is modern, fresh, and stylish. Low lighting complimented by candle settings on every table adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Its beachfront location makes it a perfect choice for sunset. Seating is available in the main restaurant, on the beach, or alternatively, you can recline on a comfy cushion on the decking.

Food

Whitening serves a range of delicious international & Thai cuisine. Starters and tapas snacks are available and the main courses provide plenty of choice. It includes some more unique dishes that are not found in many other Koh Tao restaurants, such as roti kebabs, fajitas, and some Thai fusion dishes with a Western twist (like the green curry pasta).

Vegan preferences are catered for, seafood lovers will be in their element, and meat lovers are also accommodated. There is a very wide range of steak and chicken dishes. The dessert menu comprises a combination of Western favourites and local options such as mango sticky rice and fresh coconut ice cream.

Drinks

The bar at Whitening is well stocked with local beers and spirits. There is a good selection of cocktails and various wines are available by the glass or by the bottle.
